Competitive Speech/Forensics
IN THIS SECTION
Competitive Speech, also known as forensics, is a non-athletic sports team that competes at local, state and national levels.
Overview
Traveling
The team will travel to about 10-12 tournaments for the season, typically lasting a full weekend. There are 12 events to choose from that are tailored to a competitor’s strengths and interest.
Expectations
Except for impromptu and extemporaneous speaking, competitors are able to use their same speech throughout the season, making modifications to content or presentation to remain competitive.
Competitors are expected to be engaged in their events. Over the course of the season, you are expected not only to compete, but to attend practice sessions and weekly team meetings to assess our team. Just like any team, we hold practices and expect attendance. While this is an individualized program, you are not alone.
Scholarship eligibilities
Competitors who show results are eligible for scholarships. Individual scholarships are determined based on performance at tournaments and commitment to the team as expressed through aiding the team, attending practice and expressing positive pride.
